 this goal
not at all a chore
 wide open
was the door
 
 slowly adding
more
more

 not seeing‒
rips
had torn

 making
me
unsure 
  
 not
wanting
to see anymore
 
 gluttony
had its allure

 then
lisa nichols
 put me
in an uproar
  
 all this
added
to the core
 
 my destination
had taken
a detour
  
 she’s given
me an oar
 to see
like before
  
 it’s up to me
to restore
 set aside
my added décor
 return
to my open door

(December 8, 2013)—[‘Straight Forward’ was written in 2010.] I have to comment on this one. If you never read a book by Lisa Nichols then you are missing out.

In 2010, I was home schooling my children. Things in my marriage wasn’t so hot and hadn’t been good for several years. It was an on-and-off-and-on gig thing. I took the kids to the library and right when I walk in the door there’s this display of new books out. God has always directed me to a book with meaning. That day was no exception.

I had never heard of Lisa Nichols and it was her first book. I, for the life of me, can’t remember the name but many works that I had written in 2010 were inspired by that book. [The book is titled No Matter What!]

It helps to have help sometimes be it through a counselor or a simple book. Sometimes you get a extraordinary book, but a pure motivational type of person. Don’t get lost in your darkness. Seek help. Read. Talk. The worse thing you can do is keep silent. Love the skin you’re in.
