‘Unconditional Terms’

‘Unconditional’ Fades When Another Takes Your Place!

A sample from Book 12

(July 25, 2018 [Didn’t post on Facebook.])—When toxicity takes its toll, there’s nothing to say or do.

A weak heart turns to go, finds a new heart to rip apart. A strong heart cries alone, struggling to regain ground, move on. You don’t lose to cheating. You lose to betrayal. That’s why those who don’t marry, stay single. They can just hang it up, move on to another. The faithful one can’t do this.

 Unconditional Terms

I break in the silence of the room
slamming drawers, slamming doors
wondering, this conversational doom
I've struggled to save its loom
but there's no room
for me and you too

I know this price
I've grown ugly in its heist
I've fought a good fight
wanting a heart truly mine
not one with an optional line

I've learned well...these terms
I've felt its raging burn
dancing, walking, laughing, playing‒
so many joys I've yearned
facing the putting-off in firm
'til everything's completely adjourned

I know this sway in silent rooms
the absent of deep's kissing fumes
love making...not even
while bathed in perfumes
it's all forsaking...none too soon

I know how the body withers
when lost the touch of feathers
I know the no-longer-together
the distant stormy weather
‒strength needing to gather

it all happens in silence of rooms
wanting to waken it
not let it loom
knowing it leads to doom
where there's no room
for me and you too
