‘Menacing Call’ (God)

‘Menacing Call’ (God)…O Lord, You have appointed them to execute judgment; O Rock, You have ordained them to punish….—Habakkuk 1:12-2:1

Menacing Call (God)

ravel up the bugles
tighten up the reigns
here comes the call
hear it once
hear it twice
sundays best
to forgive
through the test

confusion's mix
through all these words
don't let out a hiss
but instead
try your best to fix
a hasty drive's kick

the riddle maker speaks
clean hearts He† seeks
for the moment
go in deep
sinful natures
try not to keep

hail to the oceans
but way down deep
is where you should peek
inside the vastness
lies a slow moving creep
one not too long
lays asleep

come now patron of words
don't hide
what you've heard
for the Lord Almighty† speaks
words that carry deep
meanings not absurd
they are not a wayward bird

so come now
hear every sound
let them know
which way they are bound

waves splash
up and down
water lies
all around
but it's quickly gone
hear the moan
as the struggle's found

a privileged hand
suckered all around
warnings you should understand
as the wrath of My† hand
to you lies abound

hear, hear
hear this 'o waywardness
arrogance's sound
pleasures they intend to keep
lies in…so deep

hail waywardness
your riches won't hold
as heat turns to cold
extreme's measure
as you depend
on the wrong treasure

hear the Almighty Lord† speak
for His† words carry
across the plains
over the mountains
across the seas
over deserts and islands
all take course
you haven't seen the worse
line up, line up
your every hearse
I'm† here taking count
of those not prepared
for the coming thirst

I† am as you are

singular's patented notion
here's coming a slight motion
one to cause commotion
one not found
in all earth's creation

take heed, take heed
I† sing a song
since so many
have gone wrong
ring, ring the bells
let them sway
its heavy bong

all dressed in white
the last you'll see outright
a coming end
to a deceptive song
which flowed for too long
for it was allowed
a bag of tricks
building wealth
gathering it on shelves
serving self
and its endless manipulative voice
it had a choice

now comes My† hand
you can't avoid

the Lord Almighty God†
has come
to correct the wrong

put the candles out
I'm† here with clout
there's no one above Me†
you will know
I† am the Lord†
the one and only living God†
when fires breathe
where they falsely worship Me†

(August 29, 2022)—After, He led me to Habakkuk 1:12-2:1 through Habakkuk 2:18-20.

Wicked As Executioners?O Lord, are You not from everlasting? My God, my Holy One, we will not die. O Lord, You have appointed them to execute judgment; O Rock, You have ordained them to punish. Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; You cannot tolerate wrong. Why then do You tolerate the treacherous? Why are You silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves? You have made men take fish in the sea, like sea creatures that have no ruler. The wicked foe pulls all of them up with hooks, he catches them in his net, he gathers them up in his dragnet; and so he rejoices and is glad. Therefore he sacrifices to his net and burns incense to his dragnet, for by his net he lives in luxury and enjoys the choicest food. Is he to keep on emptying his net, destroying nations without mercy? I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what He will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.—Habakkuk 1:12-2:1

Wicked Always PunishedThen the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. See, he is puffed up; his desires are not upright―but the righteous will live by his faith―indeed, wine betrays him; he is arrogant and never at rest. Because he is as greedy as the grave and like death is never satisfied, he gathers to himself all the nations and takes captive all the peoples.’—Habakkuk 2:2-5

Wicked Always Punished (Continues)‘Will not all of them taunt him with ridicule and scorn, saying, ‘Woe to him who piles up stolen goods and makes himself wealthy by extortion! How long must this go on?’ Will not your debtors suddenly arise? Will they not wake up and make you tremble? Then you will become their victim. Because you have plundered many nations, the peoples who are left will plunder you. For you have shed man’s blood; you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them. Woe to him who builds his realm by unjust gain to set his nest on high, to escape the clutches of ruin! You have plotted the ruin of many peoples, shaming your own house and forfeiting your life. The stones of the wall will cry out, and the beams of the woodwork will echo it. Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and establishes a town by crime! Has not the Lord Almighty determined that the people’s labor is only fuel for the fire, that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing? For the Earth will be filled with knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin till they are drunk, so that he can gaze on their naked bodies. You will be filled with shame instead of glory. Now it is your turn! Drink and be exposed! The cup from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory. The violence you have done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, and your destruction of animals will terrify you. For you have shed man’s blood; you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them.—Habakkuk 2:6-17

God Is In ControlOf what value is an idol, since a man has carved it? Or an image that teaches lies? For he who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak. Woe to him who says to wood, ‘Come to life!’ Or to lifeless stone, ‘Wake up!’ Can it give guidance? It is covered with gold and silver; there is no breath in it. But the Lord is in His holy temple; let all the Earth be silent before Him.—Habakkuk 2:18-20
