‘The Straight Way’

Written March 5, 2024: ‘The Straight Way’

The Straight Way

there is placed
on the table
an entrée
‒a serving of the way
and one that goes astray

when righteousness
is at play
loving the Lord†
with all your heart
the path is straight

when unrighteousness
is at play
many places and stumbling blocks
overlay
where rough―heavy―lays
injurious is the protégé
passing out thorns
in touché

there are two messengers
‒a choice in obey
righteousness and iniquity
who want to douse you
in each's negligé
‒know the difference
know the sway
hold tight in everlasting 'faith'

righteousness' matinée
‒gentleness, kindness
meekness and peacefulness

he's not a cliché
he talks in pure sunrays
righteousness' purity, chastity
contentment
all good deeds and glorious virtue
‒allowing him into your heart
all these rays
explode inside you
like pompeii

trusting in him
brings lighter days

iniquity's heavy weight
brings about a road
in speedway

he's wrathful and bitter
foolish in his evil works
out to ruin the servants of God†
through his conniving resume

understand iniquity's spray
depart from him
give no respect or trust
to his hurrah

all that he offers
‒unprofitable to servants of God†

know this difference
between
righteousness and iniquity
trust in the messenger of righteousness
depart from the messenger of iniquity

‒though a heart faithful to Yahweh†
iniquity comes to persuade
the vessel to sin's risqué
‒though a heart lost to sin's engage
righteousness comes
for good's caché

you see‒
everyone is just halfway
it is a choice made
the crooked or the straight way

this is the absolute of faith
trusting in the messenger of righteousness
all the way

refusing the messenger of iniquity
leads to a life in God†
‒settled and clear
on your judgment day

(March 5, 2024)—This is the sixth commandment given to Hermas.
