(April 30, 2022)―After I received ‘Alo Con dá He Who Perceives’, He led me to John 6:41-51 – 6:67-71 and Matthew 15:1-20, Mark 7:1-23, which are on the same two pages in my Bible. I started reading it then the following explanation was given:
‘eat the flesh of the Son of Man’…He means His words. ‘drink His blood’…carry the cross in suffering: When I am weak, He is strong.
In our sorrow, in our death of grief…suffering from loss…we who seek Christ resurrect in new life. Without this, not only does the body die, but the soul as well.
We are given over to sin/death in order to rise/resurrect from it in order to glorify the Father. Without that glorification, we are nothing. In order to seek this glorification, we must go through His Son/salvation.
His flesh is the word, the blood is the cup of Christ…what He ask of us after we seek Him through the living Gospel…the word, His instruction. Putting trust in Him fully without remorse, greed, hate, anger, deceit, malice.
His flesh is alive in the words He left behind, in the new words He is giving…not to condemn you but to save you.
He is salvation. He does not force His salvation. We must each, individually seek it…listen to His instruction and His warnings. Understand them, understand who the Father is and know that His kingdom exist and your soul exist after the body dies.
Jews Challenge Jesus’ Claim—At this the Jews began to grumble about Him because He said, ‘I am the bread that came down from Heaven.’ They said, ‘Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can He now say, ‘I came down from Heaven?’ ‘Stop grumbling among yourselves,’ Jesus answered. ‘No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God’ [Isaiah 54:13]. ‘Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from Him comes to Me. No one has seen the Father except the One who is from God; only He has seen the Father. I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. I am the bread of life. Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from Heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is My flesh; which I will give for the life of the world.’—John 6:41-51
Jews Question Eating Flesh—Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, ‘How can this man give us His flesh to eat?’ Jesus said to them, ‘I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is real food and My blood is real drink. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread that came down from Heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.’ He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.—John 6:52-59
*Offended Disciples Turn Away—On hearing it, many of His disciples said, ‘This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?’ Aware that His disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, ‘Does this offend you? What if you see the Son of Man ascend to where He was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. Yet there are some of you who do not believe.’ For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray Him. He went on to say, ‘This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless the Father has enabled Him.’ From this time many of His disciples turned back and no longer followed Him.—John 6:60-66
Peter Affirms Faith—‘You do not want to leave too, do you?’ Jesus asked the Twelve. Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that You are the Holy One of God.’ Then Jesus replied, ‘Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!’ (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray Him.)—John 6:67-71 (Capernaum)
*Tradition Condemned—The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus and saw some of His disciples eating food with hands that were ‘unclean’, that is, unwashed. (The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders. When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles.) So the Pharisees and teachers of the Law asked Jesus, ‘Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with ‘unclean’ hands?’ He replied, ‘Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: ‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. They worship Me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men’ [Isaiah 29:13]. You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.’ And He said to them: ‘You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’ [Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16], and, ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death’ [Exodus 21:17; Leviticus 20:9]. But you say that if a man says to his father or mother: ‘Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is Corban’ (that is, a gift devoted to God), then you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother. Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.’—Matthew 15:1-9; Mark 7:1-13 (A.D. 29, Spring)
*Defilement Contrasted―[Mark] Again Jesus called the crowd to Him and said, ‘Listen to Me, everyone, and understand this. Nothing outside a man can make him ‘unclean’ by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him ‘unclean.” [Matthew] Then the disciples came to Him and asked, ‘Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?’ He replied, ‘Every plant that My heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Leave them; they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.’ Peter said, ‘Explain the parable to us.’ ‘Are you still so dull?’ Jesus asked him. [Mark] ‘Don’t you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him ‘unclean’? For it doesn’t go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body.’ (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods ‘clean.’) He went on: ‘What comes out of a man is what makes him ‘unclean.’ For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean.’―Matthew 15:10-20; Mark 7:14-23
