I† see hunger
why do I† see hunger?
I† see abuse of every kind

(March 29)—I wrote several things on my Facebook personal page this morning. I keep getting: put your two cents in (a repeating deal since I was first sent the impression of this in June/July…I wrote about it). I do not like argument. I can’t stand debating God’s power or presence. He is. There is no debate. I can’t stand seeing people laugh at God or Jesus. That’s stupidity. I can’t stand ignorance. (I know where ignorance goes! I am fighting to prevent that!) But I do what God wants. After I wrote several things this morning, I sat down to write. I haven’t written in several days. I was told to rest. I’ve been watching ‘Cheers’…and trying to lose myself in relaxation. Not easy when you’re shown the things I am shown.
I opened my Bible…AMOS! I’ve included the passages I was directed to this morning. Interesting. I wrote about Amos before, in fact, the entire Scripture of Amos is included with ‘Enclosed We Go‘. I was led there for that piece because I was questioning my own calling. Jesus wanted me to see that I am not the only one called who didn’t have spiritual training as Isaiah and Jeremiah did. Amos was just a shepherd…a real one who tended to sheep in a field most of his life. He wasn’t accustomed to seeing people. He saw sheep…the actual animal! And what Amos said about prophets (not included here…read the above mentioned work) helped me to understand why God called me in the first place, and what to expect.
He also led me to Amos to tell me that what He said to Amos hasn’t happened yet. Amos was to go and tell the people what God said so that it can be recorded. What He said to me and showed to me back in August 2019, I really was shook up. I immediately told everyone who would listen. I put it online…on Facebook and my website. He knew I would do that. He wanted me to although He warned me against it. He knew how I would be received. Amos did as well.
God has a way of showing us that He chose us and that no matter how we are treated, what people do to us is part of our reward. People’s behavior is already known. Y’all don’t seem to realize it. Point: The worse thing you could possibly do in God’s eyes is denounce His Son. And if you denounce Him, God Himself, it doesn’t matter because in His eyes, you’ve already denounced His Son! To the pit you go! Enjoy!
For those of us who write for Him, for His Son, His hand is hard! His tests are really hard! And He shows us a little of His power through other people. Like He tells us then it happens, you’re like, ‘OH MY GOD! This is for REAL!‘ And you do what He wants. Our tests are for a reason. Amos. When you enjoy the silence, you hear His voice. Then you do what it is that He wants.
After understanding what He was revealing to me through Amos, I began writing. I know it was God who began this writing. I recognized His tone. The title came first…‘Smells of Manure’…interesting and I questioned it. The title had to stay! Then Jesus took over…I recognized His voice!
Note: I put their words into poem format because God says so. God turned me into the poet, and He conditioned me to hear Him in the way that I do. So I give you what is given to me in the format in which I hear it. This is what God wants. I am the one who adds the crosses. That’s my choice. During the typing up and reading for typographical error, David adds the break lines.
In the following Scriptures, I’ve underlined what I’m to point out to you. In some, I’ve included in brackets clarifications.
Cry Against Injustice—Hear this word, O house of Israel, this lament I take up concerning you: ‘Fallen is Virgin Israel, never to rise again, deserted in her own land, with no one to lift her up.’ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘The city that marches out a thousand strong for Israel will have only a hundred left; the town that marches out a hundred strong will have only ten left.’ This is what the Lord says to the house of Israel: ‘See Me and live; do not seek Bethel, do not go to Gilgal, do not journey to Beersheba. For Gilgal will surely go into exile, and Bethel will be reduced to nothing.’ Seek the Lord and live, or He will sweep through the house of Joseph like a fire; it will devour, and Bethel will have no one to quench it. You who turn justice into bitterness and cast righteousness to the ground (He who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns blackness into dawn and darkens day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the land―the Lord is His name―He flashes destruction on the stronghold and brings the fortified city to ruin), you hate the one who reproves in court and despise him who tells the truth. You trample on the poor and force him to give you grain. Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, you will not live in them; though you have planted lush vineyards, you will not drink their wine. For I know how many are your offenses and how great your sins. You oppress the righteous and take bribes and you deprive the poor of justice in the courts. Therefore the prudent man keeps quiet in such times, for the times are evil. Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say He is. Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.—Amos 5:1-15
**Day of the Lord—Therefore this is what the Lord, the Lord God Almighty, says: ‘There will be wailing in all the streets and cries of anguish in every public square. The farmers will be summoned to weep and the mourners to wail. There will be wailing in all the vineyards [all nations], for I will pass through your midst,’ says the Lord. Woe to you who long for the day of the Lord! Why do you long for the day of the Lord? That day will be darkness, not light [death]. It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him. Will not the day of the Lord be darkness, not light―pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness? [He showed this through the pictures He had me take.]—Amos 5:16-20
Emptiness of Ritual—‘I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies. Even though you bring Me burnt offerings and grain offerings [today: money offerings, lighting your candles, He will not accept your prayers if you don’t accept His son], I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings [peace offerings], I will have no regard for them. Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream! Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the desert, O house of Israel? You have lifted up the shrine of your king, the pedestal of your idols, the star of your god [idols]―which you made for yourselves.’—Amos 5:21-36
Rebuke for Complacency—Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria, you notable men of the foremost nation, [all people] to whom the people of Israel come! Go to Calneh and look at it; go from there to great Hamath, and then go down to Gath in Philistia. Are they better off than your two kingdoms? Is there land larger than yours? You put off the evil day and bring near reign of terror. You lie on beds inlaid with ivory and lunge on your couches. You dine on choice lambs and fattened calves. You strum away on your harps like David and improvise on musical instruments. You drink wine by the bowlful and use the finest lotions, but you do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph. There you will be among the first to go into exile; your feasting and lounging will end.—Amos 6:1-7
Rebuke for Pride—The Sovereign Lord has sworn by Himself―the Lord God Almighty declares: ‘I abhor the pride of Jacob and detest his fortresses; I will deliver up the city and everything in it.‘ If ten men are left in one house, they too will die. And if a relative who is to burn the bodies comes to carry them out of the house and asks anyone still hiding there, ‘Is anyone with you?’ and he says, ‘No,’ then he will say, ‘Hush!’ We must not mention the name of the Lord.’ For the Lord has given the command, and He will smash the great house into pieces and the small house into bits. Do horses run on the rocky crags? Does one plow there with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness―you who rejoice in the conquest of Lo Debar [nothing] and say, ‘Did we not take Karnaim [horns; horn here symbolizes strength] by our own strength?’ For the Lord God Almighty declares, ‘I will stir up a nation against you, O house of Israel, that will oppress you all the way from Lebo [from the entrance to] Hamath to the valley of the Arabah.’ [the meaning of this will soon become clear…the matter will take less than 200 years.]—Amos 6:8-14
